The familiarity of these tunes requires the guitarist to explore creative approaches to bring new textures and meanings to these timeless melodies. Employing various tunings, unusual chord voicings, counterpoint lines, alternating bass and arpeggio techniques, McMeen teaches his arrangements, ranging from the sprightly “Jingle Bells,” through a tender version of “Away In A Manger,” to evocative arrangements of “We Three Kings.” Three guitar tunings are explored: standard, DADGAD and CGDGAD.
