For starters, this beast boosts your signal with the help of a hand-selected 12AX7 vacuum tube, serving up oodles of gain, sustain, and sweet harmonics. But there are lots of places you can take tube tone like that, and thanks to the VT999’s comprehensive set of controls, getting there is easy. On the way in, an adjustable noise gate (more like a gentle expander) keeps any hiss on the line from frying your sound. There are separate Gain and Master volume controls on the VT999 too, and 3-band EQ does a killer job shaping your tone, allowing you to dial in anything from a scooped lead to a punchy and present riff tone.
